Dubai, UAE, 2 November 2023: Yalago, part of the Emirates Group and one of the world’s fastest-growing leisure accommodation wholesalers, has recorded a 50% increase in hotel bookings from travellers from the United Kingdom in 2023, compared to the same timings in 2019.
Historically driven by the UK market, the source market mix of the Dubai-based leisure wholesale specialist has also expanded further in 2023 to a more global presence. Known for its market-leading accommodation rates, Yalago has also seen strong growth from travellers from Spain, India, the USA and Italy.
Globally, Thailand is the top-booked destination across all source markets for 2023, amidst a resurgence in travel to Southeast Asia. Indonesia and Singapore are also trending, whilst the UAE continues to grow in popularity. Comprising its ‘top ten’ most popular travel destinations for hotel bookings this year so far are Thailand, UAE, Spain, Indonesia, USA, Italy, Singapore, Egypt, Turkey and France.
Astrid Kastberg, General Manager at Yalago, commented: “The UK represents one of Yalago’s fastest-growing source markets, whilst we continue to witness growth in bookings from travellers across the globe. Emirates’ recent announcement of codesharing agreements with United Airlines and Air Canada has clearly contributed to the increase of demand between the Americas and the Middle East and Indian Ocean. At this time of high demand, through our industry experience and partnerships, we aim to support travel companies in offering significant savings to customers, worldwide.
“We are in the process of establishing our Yalago Retail team internationally with an initial focus on the UK and plans to expand further into other markets to grow our in-market presence and enhance our local touch. Our Heads of Sales for all the regions will attend WTM London 2023 on behalf of both wholesale and retail, as we continue to focus on increasing our product portfolio and bring added value to our clients.”
In 2023, Yalago has grown its team across Europe and the Americas. This includes Latin America, an emerging market for travel identified by the Yalago team, where strong growth in bookings have been witnessed this year to destinations including the UAE, China and Australia.
The Yalago team intends to take next steps in connecting with the global travel market at World Travel Market London 2023, taking place 6 – 8 November at ExCeL London. Here, it will showcase its ever-growing hotel portfolio for leisure travellers.
